At HerMove, we talk a lot about empowering women and girls to get active, to find their people, and to take up space in sport. But sometimes, the most powerful moments of change don't come from the top down. Sometimes, they come from a 10-year-old girl with an idea and the courage to ask.
That girl is Chloe Adkin.
She Asked. They Listened.
Chloe didn't wait for someone else to create the opportunity. She went to her rugby club and asked a simple question: could we set up girls touch rugby?
The answer was yes.
Not only that, but Chloe designed one of the promotional posters for the event herself. At 10 years old, she is already shaping what sport looks like for girls in her community. That's exactly the kind of spirit HerMove exists to celebrate.
What's Happening and When
On Thursday 24th April at 6pm, the club is running a girls touch rugby taster event, open to girls of all ages and abilities. No experience needed. No contact. Just movement, fresh air, fun, and a chance to try something a little different.
Here's what makes this extra special: the girls session will run alongside the club's Family Touch Rugby, which takes place every Friday evening throughout the summer. That means the whole family can get involved, making it a genuinely accessible, community night out.
Whether you're a girl who's always been curious about rugby, a mum who fancied a run around, or a family looking for a new Friday routine, this is for you.
More Than Just a Game
Touch rugby is non-contact, fast-paced, and genuinely brilliant fun. But this event is about more than just the sport itself.
It's about:
Getting active in a welcoming, low-pressure environment
Making friends and becoming part of a community
Discovering that rugby, in all its forms, has a place for everyone
And if any of the girls who come along catch the bug? The club offers pathways into touch rugby, junior rugby, and contact rugby, so there's no ceiling on where this could take them.
A Note from the Organisers
"The girls touch rugby is all about exercise, fitness, and having fun. It is a great opportunity to make friends and become part of a community."
That could just as easily be HerMove's tagline. Because that's exactly what we're here for.
Come Along on the 24th
This is a free taster event, and everyone is welcome. Come curious. Come as you are.
